Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Well this was a relitivly short and easy chapter to read. I don't really have any questions...
Wait one, where you able to picture that cute little dog pouncing on that tiny beetle? I thought that Mark Twain was able to paint a vivid picture of that scene.
Well that's the one and only additional question, so here are the normal ones,
What were you expecting to happen in this chapter?
What do you think will happen next?
What character do you like best? Why?
What character can you relate to?
In general what do you think this author is trying to tell us?
What do you think of each relationship?
Who is your least favorite character? Why?
What do you think of the setting and time period?
If it was in present day what do you think would change?
Do you like the writer's style?

It seems to me that Tom just can't seem to help himself. Mischief just seems to find him.

From Twain's writing, you can get a sense of how important the church was and what an important influence religion was on daily life.

Twain has a wonderful writing style. He's descriptive style makes it easy to visualize what's going on and help give us a real sense of being in the story. It's no wonder he's still a popular author. He's writing from what he knows, and, as he wrote in the preface, the major characters are based on people he knew. It serves him well and may help explain why Tom Sawyer is still popular.

Hmm, not much has changed when it comes to church, :). Honestly it wouldn't be that fun of a story if Tom didn't get into a little bit of mischief every now and then.

I read ahead so I already know what is going to happen next. I think that Mark Twain has an interesting style of writing very descriptive. I am not a fan of his books though because I am not interested in what he writes about. The book has yet to truely captivate my interest. One thing that I think is interesting though and especially in the following chapters is how superstitous tom is.

This chapter was very boring, I didn't really like it. But I did like the part about the dog because I picture the dog from Sherk Two you know that little doggie. Anyway it just seems funny at least the way I’m picturing it. But like I said before I didn’t like this chapter.

I really don't like Tom as a character and I find the authors style of writing very annoying.
