We found out that Hester’s husband is the doctor, and that he is ashamed of her and doesn’t want to be associated with her. Hester is making money from stitching and sewing clothing items. Hester named her baby girl, Pearl, who doesn’t get along with the other kids because they make fun of her. In chapter seven, we find out that Hester might have Pearl taken away from her.
Do you have any ideas on who Pearl’s father might be? Why do you think that?

I really have no idea who the husband is. But my logic behind why shes keeping him a secret is because she is in love with him. Now I might be wrong whitch I probably am but, why else would she not tell anyone. If I were in her position I would tell someone who the father is. But if I were in love with him and I didn't want people to look at him in a bad way then I wouldn't say anything. It's normal in novels for someone to give there life for the one they love sooooooo... I really don't know!

I agree with Ali, she wants to protect him. I completely understand why she's keeping her mouth shut about who the father is.
I really hope that Pearl doesn't get taken away, due to the fact it would hurt Hester (well it should anyways) a lot. I would go completely crazy if I had my child taken away from me.
I wonder if we're going hear more on Hester's husband.
I liked these couple of chapters i like how the Arther develops pearls character and describes her impish ways. Its a little bit freaky that Hester would think of her child like that but like Mr. K said she is a reminder of her actions.
I'm also questioning whether she loves the father, because if she loved the father, like really really loved him, then why would she be so unsure of pearl.
I don't know if that makes sense but its a question that's been going though my head.
