Chapter 14

The beginning of this chapter freaked me out a little; I rather see the bugs in real then read about them because it freaks me out more reading about them.

They all get up; Joe cuts up some bacon, while Tom and Huck go fishing. They have their breakfast, and then they went off exploring and swimming. Later in the afternoon they get back to camp and start talking and realizes that they all miss the home or what seems like home, but they don't let the others know that. They hear a sound so the go to find what it is.

So they find what is making the sound and after thinking of what was happening they realize that someone drowned.

They start to feel a little happy because they found out that the town was actually missing them, it's what Joe and Tom wanted all along.

And the chapter ends with Tom sneaking off while Joe and Huck are asleep.

For those of you who haven’t read ahead. Where do you think Tom is headed?

Can you image yourself doing what they did? Running away for whatever reason and then finding out that they people you left are worried sick about you, but you still stay hidden?

I remember I was in 3rd grade and I got mad at my Mom and Dad. I just thought they didn't care much about me and didn't love me, and looking back, I was feeling sorry for myself and was being young and foolish. Well, I got the idea that I would run away from home. So, I packed my suitcase and put it by the door and said good by to Mom and Dad and turned to leave. I was thinking that they'd try to stop me and make me stay home, but instead, they told me they'd miss me and to be careful and to call when I got where I was going.

Talk about having the wind knocked out of my sails. The plan wasn't going according to plan. Of course, I didn't go anywhere except to my room to unpack and feel just a little bit sorry for myself and feel just a little bit foolish.

I never got as far as Tom. I think he's feeling remorseful and realizing that the problems he was having weren't really all that much to worry about in the scheme of things. And he misses home. And he wants to go. And he can't say it out loud because he's afraid of what his friends will think. Rather than face that, he decides he'll leave when no one can talk him out of it or make him feel bad for going.

My guess is that he's going home. Gladly.

I agree with Mr. K, I think he's going home. I think he misses his Aunt Polly. Not being around his family for a day or so, he's probably not use to it. Plus he might be worried what Aunt Polly's thinking.

Ah Mr. K your story reminds me of a leave it to beaver episode.

I tried to run away once too. I left for about an hour then came back home because it was cold out.
