Well I think that this chapter really is quite an interesting exchange between Mary, Aunt Polly, and Tom, especially with the “dream” that Tom had. Tom has an amazing imagination and can really think on his toes.
Question, if you were Aunt Polly would you forgive Tom that quickly due to Tom telling you about his dream? Or do you think that she’s too big of a softie?
The next day Tom’s heading to school and he finds that he has a bunch of admirers. He’s really enjoying it, except he can’t seem to get the attention of Becky. He tries numerous attempts to get her attention and then switches tactics, this time making her jealous.
Question: Do you think that Becky and Tom will be able to set things straight?
So I can’t wait till the next couple chapters, the picnic is quite a lot of fun…

Yeah. I do think Aunt Polly is a big softie but I would probably do the same.
Yeah I think they will be able to set things straight.
I still like that one question you had before.
The past few chapters help show how grown up Tom is sometimes and just how much of a little boy sometimes too. He's got the strength to run away, but then gets all homesick and almost cries when he thinks of his family and how much he misses them. Not to mention how afraid they are when the thunderstorm strikes.
It's interesting that he's the one that develops the grand scheme. Allow the town to think that the boys have died, and then enter the church when the mourning is going on and revel in all the adoration.
And that's exactly what happened.
Both Becky and Tom seem to be quite strong willed. He wants her and she wants him and both are too proud to admit it. Tom goes back to his old girlfriend to make Becky jealous. Which she is. To get back at him, she pretends to like a snooty boy in class to make Tom jealous. Which he is.
In the end, they both end up miserable. Imagine that. Some things just don't seem to change.
I think that Tom and becky will get back together eventually.
