Nothing much happened in this chapter they had some like the presentations that we do each year but a little different. We have it done in a few days and they were doing it in one night.
I liked the end of this chapter when it was talking about the cat the way it was described it was very funny and I think it was the best part of the chapter. Then it end with saying that vacation had come.
How long do you think the vacation time is? What season do you think they have it?

I think it’s around October in the book, so in the fall. But I might be wrong. The vacation might be for a month or so because in the time frame this was written school vacation was a lot longer for the students. Then what they are now. I don't think it would be longer then two months.
I don't agree that nothing much happened in this chapter. Quite a lot happened it seems to me. Imagine having to present and memorize complicated, uninteresting essays. To stand in front of a crowd of adults from the community and be dressed up in clothes you don't feel comfortable in, and speak about things you care little if nothing about. That to me, would be pure drudgery.
It was not surprise to me that Becky and Tom got back together. It was destiny. Tom took the heat for Becky when she ripped the page in the teacher's book and she was beside herself with gratitude. I wonder how she feels about what happened to the teacher with the cat.
He's a frustrated man without question. And he doesn't seem all that nice. He treats them quite harshly, but that was the norm for the time. Still, I don't think he deserved what he got. That joke was mean.
I personally think that it was very sweet how Tom took the blame for Becky, how could you not like a guy like that? :)
I agree with Mr. Kennedy, standing in front of adults and speak about unintresting subject is indeed nightmare.
I think that it is like a summer vacation. I'm guessing it only last a couple weeks.
